Became the winner of the Rock City Ladies Open event of the 1963 LPGA Tour. She was also the champion of the 1960 Leesburg Pro-Am.
Before going pro, she won the 1952 North and South Women's Amateur in Pinehurst, North Carolina.
President Dwight Eisenhower admired her skill as a Golfer and invited her to visit the White House; the two subsequently became good friends.
In the late 1950s, she married fellow Golfer and Sacramento, California native Edward "Bud" Porter.
In the finals of the 1954 U.S. Women's Amateur golf tournament, she defeated Future, multi-time LPGA Tour winner Mickey Wright.
