American actor best known for his role as President Thomas J. Whitmore in Independence Day. He also starred in Lost Highway, Spaceballs, and While You Were Sleeping.
Prior to his film career, he was employed as a Teacher at SUNY Deilh and Montana State University's School of Film and Photography.
He also made appearances in Casper, Lake Placid, and Scary Movie 4.
He married to Tamara Hurwitz in 1987. They have three children together, Maesa, Jack and Lewis.
He starred in Independence Day with Jeff Goldblum.
