American pop singer who is best recognized for having been one of the founding members of the pop group Village People. He is known for having represented the Native American in the group and for his work with several international charity organizations including the Native American College Fund and several AIDS foundations.
Before Fame
He won a scholarship at the age of 16 to study dance with the Ballet de Puerto Rico. He started his career as a nightclub dancer and one night while dancing at the New York discotheque The Anvil, he was discovered by French producer Jacques Morali. His first successful hit came in 1977 when he recorded the song "San Francisco".

He is also known for having been a member of the Board of Directors for the organizations Sixuvus Ltd as well as the Advisory Board of the Native American Music Association.

He was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. His mother was a dancer for the Copacabana during the 1940's and 1950's.
