Electrical Engineer known for founding the non-profit Black Girls Code. The organization aims to help make it easier for young black girls, who are largely underrepresented in engineering, learn to program.
She attended Vanderbilt University, where she studied electrical engineering. She eventually found work in biotechnology, spending time with Pfizer, Genetech, and Merck.
Her efforts with Black Girls Code earned her a spot on Business Insider's list of 25 Most Influential African-Americans in Technology in 2013.
She has a daughter, who helped provide the inspiration to create Black Girls Code.
