Croatian artist who painted numerous landscapes of his home county Međimurje. He wasn't very well-known while he was alive, but he would eventually be regarded as one of his country's greatest 20th-century visual artists.
He was wounded while fighting in World War I.
He so adored his home county Medimurje that, to honor his roots, he changed his surname to Kralj-Medimurec.
He lived alone during the World War II years in the village of Krkanec and spent most of his time painting landscapes.
He and Oton Ivekovic were both Croatian painters.
