Australian nun who founded the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Sacred Heart, which established a number of schools throughout Australia, in 1866.
She started work at the age of 14 as a clerk in a stationery store in Melbourne to help support her family.
She is the first Australian to be recognized by the Catholic Church as a saint.
Her brother Donald was a Jesuit priest who worked among the Aborigines in the Northern part of Austrailia.
She was canonized by Pope Benedict XVI in 2010.
