In 1905 she became the first American, and the first non-British woman, to win Wimbledon.
She moved from England to California at age six, where she and her three sisters immediately dominated the youth tennis competition.
In 1904 she won the U.S. Open in both singles and doubles, and made the finals in mixed doubles.
In 1912 she married fellow tennis pro Tom Bundy.
Her nephew, John Doeg, was also a successful tennis player.
