Mexican war hero who was a priest and leader of the Mexican War of Independence. He gathered an army of nearly 90,000 poor farmers and Mexican civilians and marched across Mexico during war.
He worked as a parish priest at Dolores Hidalgo Church in 1803.
His image was featured on a Mexican 1000 Pesos note issued in 2008.
He was born the third child of Don Cristobal Hidalgo y Costilla and Dona Ana Maria Gallaga.
Like him, Pancho Villa is a known Mexican war hero.
