French Sculptor who worked in a range of rococo and neoclassical styles. He sculpted Amalthea and Jupiter's goat, commissioned by Louis XVI.
He studied at the École de dessin of Lyon, then entered the Parisian atelier of Guillaume Coustou the Younger.
He won a Prix de Rome for sculpture with a bas-relief panel of a subject from Antiquity in 1765.
His parents raised him in the village of Saint-Paulien.
