Also known professionally as Russ Roberts, he is an economics researcher at Stanford University's Hoover Institution, a non-fiction author, and a podcast host. He strives to make economics more accessible with his successful podcast EconTalk.
He received his Bachelor's degree in economics from the University of North Carolina in 1975. He went on to get his PhD in the subject from the University of Chicago. He later taught at George Mason University, Washington University in St. Louis, the University of Rochester, Stanford University, and the University of California, Los Angeles. He was featured on NPR and in the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal.
His book How Adam Smith Can Change Your Life: An Unexpected Guide to Human Nature and Happiness was published in 2014.
He has two sons and a daughter.
He is one of the creators of the rap battle videos about historic economists John Maynard Keynes and Friedrich Hayek published by EconStories on YouTube.
