Notable as the founder and head of Kroenke Sports Enterprises, he bought major stakes in the NBA team the Denver Nuggets; the NFL team the St. Louis Rams; the NHL team the Colorado Avalanche; and the Major League Soccer team the Colorado Rapids. In 2014, Forbes magazine estimated Kroenke's net worth at six billion dollars.
Not confining his Sports empire to the United States, he purchased a major stake in England's Arsenal Premiere League soccer club.
His marriage to Ann Walton Kroenke produced a son named Josh and a daughter named Whitney Ann. His wife is the daughter of Bud Walton (who, along with Sam Walton, founded the Wal-Mart chain).
Kroenke and Robert Mondavi both owned wineries in California's Napa Valley; Kroenke purchased the Screaming Eagle winery in 2006.
