He became the youngest Filipino player to reach the rank of International Master at age 12.
In May, 2013 he was the 40th ranked chess player in the world.
As a former child Prodigy, his family was instrumental in helping him pursue chess.
He has followed in the footsteps of Filipino chess legend Eugenio Torre.
