American actor who is most famous for his role as Greg Sumner on the 1980s soap opera, Knots Landing, and also starred in The Dark Knight rises.
He appeared early in his career in episodes of N.Y.P.D., Young Dr. Kildare, and Gunsmoke.
His film credits include roles in Marathon Man (with Dustin Hoffman and Laurence Olivier); Family Plot (directed by Alfred Hitchcock); Payback (with Mel Gibson); and Space Cowboys (with Tommy Lee Jones and Clint Eastwood).
He married Eugenie Devane in 1961; together, they had two children.
He played President John F. Kennedy in a 1974 television movie called The Missiles of October.
