Striker and midfielder who became the first Chinese player ever to play in Bundesliga when he signed with Eintracht Frankfurt in 1998. He was named Footballer of the Year by the Chinese Football Association in 2000 and eventually went back to his home country to play for Shenzhen Jianlibao, with whom he won the Chinese Super League title in 2004.
He made his professional soccer debut with Beijing Guoan in the Chinese Super League in 1997.
He retired from playing in 2007 and was appointed as an assistant coach at Jiangsu Sainty in 2011.
He was born in Beijing, China.
He and Duvier Riascos have both won the Chinese Football Association Footballer of the Year award.
