Best known as a member of the all-female vocal ensembles AKB48 and Not Yet, this Japanese singer also had a career as a screen Actress, appearing in such films as Densen Uta and Sweet Little Lies.
Before recording her first single with AKB48, "Aitakatta," she was a member of a teen vocal group called Doll's Vox.
In 2008, she appeared in two episodes of a manga-based live action television series titled Cat Street.
Though born in the city of Yokohama, she grew up primarily in the Tochigi Prefecture.
She and Atsuko Maeda were both star vocalists with AKB48.
