Tragically, when he was only six years old, Walsh was abducted from a Florida department store and subsequently murdered. The case made national headlines and inspired Walsh's father, John Walsh, to produce and host the Fox network program America's Most Wanted.
Shortly before he was abducted, he was seen examining a video game display at a Sears department store where his mother was shopping.
His death was one of several tragic events that resulted in the establishment of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
He was born in Hollywood, Florida, to Reve and John Walsh. In the week following Adam's abduction, his father was considered a suspect, but was quickly cleared of any involvement in the crime.
Serial murderer Ottis Toole confessed to Walsh's homicide but was never officially convicted of the crime. Nearly three decades after Walsh's death, however, detectives closed the case and stated that they believed Toole to be the young boy's murderer.
