Akash Ambani was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra on 23 October 1991. He completed his schooling from Dhirubhai Ambani International School. He has completed major in economics from Brown University in the United States. He is a Sports enthusiast and is a supporter of English football club Arsenal. He is the elder son of Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani. His twin sister, Isha Ambani, is a co-director at Jio and Reliance Retail. He has a younger brother, Anant Ambani. On 24 March 2018, he got engaged to Shloka Mehta, daughter of Diamond magnate and managing Director of Rosy Blue, Russell Mehta, in Goa.
In October 2016, Ambani quoted that his company, Jio, was evolving every day like a startup. A provider of 4G data services along with a collection of online services, Jio launched in April 2016. An employee launch of the services happened in December 2015 at the presence of its brand ambassador, Shah Rukh Khan.
