He was smuggled out of Nicaragua in 1979.
He served as a freedom fighter during the Nicaraguan Revolution, fighting for the Sandinista rebels.
He was born and raised in Pearl Lagoon, Nicaragua.
He and Gary Gaetti were teammates on the Minnesota Twins from 1981 to 1984.
