Left handed batsman and commentator for the Australian national team. He won the Cricket World Cup in 1987 as the captain. His bowling style is slow left-arm orthodox. He was named an Australia Post Legend of Cricket in 2021.
He started his professional career in 1976 with domestic team New South Wales.
He worked as commentator for Fox Sports Australia once retired. He was inducted into the Queensland Sport Hall of Fame in 2009 and the Sport Australia Hall of Fame in 1990.
His parents are John and Sheila Border. He married Jane Hiscox. His son is Dene Border.
