Influential figure in Philadelphia Sports who served as the chairman of Comcast Spectacor. He was previously the owner of the Philadelphia 76ers, a part-owner of the Philadelphia Eagles, and the President of the Philadelphia Flyers.
He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland. He had been a partner for a record company called Edge Ltd. before selling the company, and earning a 7% stake in the Eagles while serving as their vice President and treasurer.
He was inducted into four different Hall of Fames: the Hockey Hall of Fame, the Philadelphia Jewish Sports Hall of Fame, the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame and the United States Hockey Hall of Fame.
He died from bladder cancer, leaving behind children named Jay, Craig, Lindy, Tina, Sarena and Samuel. He was married four times.
He was a founding contributor of the Ayn Rand Institute.
