Actress, Writer and Director best known as the creator and star of HBO's hit series Insecure alongside Larry Wilmore. She also developed a television series with Shonda Rhimes for ABC called I Hate L.A. Dudes.
She created the YouTube web series Awkward Black Girl on YouTube in 2011. It later won the 2012 Shorty Award for Best Web Show and became the basis of Insecure.
She made Glamour Magazine's "35 Under 35" list in 2013 and the Forbes "30 Under 30" list in both 2013 and 2014. She released the memoir The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl in February 2015.
She was born in Los Angeles. Her brother and nephew have appeared in pictures on her Instagram.
