American lawyer who is best recognized for her work as a prosecutor during the Watergate scandal. She is also known for having served served under US President Jimmy Carter as US General Counsel of the Army from 1977 until 1980.
Before Fame
After receiving her BS in Communication from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, she earned her JD from Columbia University's Law School in 1968. She then joined the US Department of Justice, becoming one of the first female attorneys in the organized crime section.
Trivia
In 1987, she became the executive director of the American Bar Association and thus the first woman to hold the position.

She was born and raised in Chicago and married antiques dealer Michael Banks.
