Famous for his detective roles as Marcus Bell and Damon Washington on the respective television series Elementary (on CBS) and Detroit 1-8-7 (on ABC), Hill is also known for his Tony-nominated performance in the 2010 Broadway production of Superior Donuts.
After earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Illinois, he appeared in the Steppenwolf Theatre Company's 2009 production of Shakespeare's The Tempest.
He played Puck in a New York outdoor production of A Midsummer Night's Dream.
He grew up in Waukegan, Illinois.
In 2012, he and Aidan Quinn became series regulars on Elementary.
