Before rising to fame in 2014 for her role as Laurel Castillo on the ABC drama How to Get Away with Murder, Souza portrayed Dana Villalba Duarte on the Mexican telenovela Verano de Amor and played the series regular role of Prisca on the Spanish-language sitcom Los Heroes del Norte.
After training at Mexico City's Televisa Centro de Educacion Artistica, she earned a bachelor's degree from London, England's Central School of Speech and Drama.
Her role as Barbie Noble in the 2013 Mexican comedy movie Nosotros los Nobles (The Noble Family) earned her both Diosas de Plata and Pantalla de Cristal Film Festival Awards.
She spent her childhood in both Mexico City and Aspen, Colorado, and attained fluency in Spanish and English as well as in French. In 2014, she married Marshall Trenkmann.
She and Eugenio Derbez were both in the cast of the hit Mexican comedy movie Instructions Not Included.
