Born Amanda Dawn Cornett, she gave birth to Selena Gomez when she was 16 years old and living paycheck-to-paycheck.
She acted in stage productions near Dallas Texas.
Her failed acting career inspired her daughter, Selena, to become a child actor.
She was married to Ricardo Joel Gomez from 1992 to 1997. After their divorce, she married Brian Teefey on May 18, 2006. She and Brian welcomed a daughter named Gracie in 2013.
