Monaghan has performed in other science fiction roles, such as "JoJo Thorson" in the 1993 series Space Rangers, where reviewers remarked on her portrayal of JoJo as a "low-voiced feminist blond bombshell", and the "Heroes and Demons" episode of Star Trek: Voyager. She was considered for the role of T'Pol in Star Trek: Enterprise.
Monaghan starred as Kathleen Ryan in the 1999 series Rescue 77, where a reviewer said her "tough, thoughtul performance" was the only saving grace of a "generic action series".
