After earning a degree in communication from the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, he spent his early years working as a model. He would model for a variety of brands, from Dolce & Gabbana to Valentino.
In 2016, he published the book Podes Ser Tudo, an autobiography about his experience as a model.
Born to Ana and José Rua, he has a sister named Filipa. He was married to actress Sofia Ribeiro from 2011 to 2012.
In 2017, he joined José Fidalgo in the cast of the feature film Leviano.
