Distinguished Welsh midfielder who began his 20-plus year career with Manchester United in 1990 and competed for the Welsh national team from 1991 to 2007.
He was a member of the England U-16 team in 1989.
He was named PFA Players' Player of the Year in 2009 and won his 13th Premier League title with Manchester United in 2013.
He had two children with his wife Stacey Cooke.
He was joined by Wayne Rooney on Manchester United in 2004.
