He began his professional career with the Mexican team Estudiantes Tecos in 2006.
He played for the American U-20 team in the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship.
His brother Jesus Ochoa also played in the MLS.
He was teammates with goaltender Marcus Hahnemann on the Seattle Sounders FC during the 2012-13 season.
