Ballet performer known for being the principal Dancer in the New York City Ballet. She was nominated for a Benois de la Dance award in 2012 and for a Bessie Award in 2014.
She began dancing when she was three and enrolled in the School of American Ballet in 2001. She joined the NYC Ballet in 2003 and became principal Dancer 2008.
After suffering a back injury in 2012, she became an advocate for promoting injury prevention in dance. She and Cole Haan collaborated to design ballet flats.
She grew up in South Carolina and has a brother who also dances.
She's performed in several ballets by George Balanchine.
