Former basketball player who won four Olympic gold medals as a member of the U.S. women's basketball team. She is a Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer and was on the USA Basketball Board of Directors from 2009 through 2012.
She was Georgia High School Player of the Year while a member of the Cairo High School Syrupmakers.
She placed 22nd on Sports Illustrated's list of the 100 Greatest Female Athletes of the 20th Century in 2000.
She is the oldest of four children and has three younger brothers.
She and Cheryl Miller were teammates on the U.S. women's team which brought home the gold medal at the 1984 Olympic Games.
