Soccer coach and former player who took over the helm of Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund in 2015. He'd previously coached Mainz 05 and Augsburg II.
He grew up playing soccer with TSV Krumbach and and FC Augsburg before making his professional debut with the Stuttgarter Kickers in 1992.
His playing career spanned from 1992 to 1998, most of it spent with SSV Ulm.
He grew up in Krumbach, West Germany.
He took over Dortmund after Jurgen Klopp left to coach Liverpool.
