Ukrainian chess Grandmaster who won the Amber blindfold and rapid chess tournament in 1992 and 2010, respectively.
He won the 1987 European Junior Chess Championship.
At the peak of his career he was the number two ranked player in the world and he was the 2007–2008 World Blitz Chess champion.
He has been married twice.
He and Magnus Carlsen are considered by other chess greats to be two of the brightest minds in the game.
