After serving as a Member of Parliament for the Saint Andrew West Central constituency and subsequently holding office as his country's Minister of Education, this Labour Party Politician was elected ninth Prime Minister of Jamaica.
He earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of the West Indies.
He became a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
He was born in Spanish Town, Jamaica to Morris Holness and Sonia Harvey. He married Juliette Holness in 1997; they have sons named Andrew and Adam.
His brief term as Prime Minister lasted from October of 2011 until January of 2012. He was succeeded in office by People's National Party Politician Portia Simpson-Miller.
