David Consunji was born on October 18, 1921 in Philippines. David Consunji founded construction company DMCI in 1954. The firm has since diversified into power generation, real estate and infrastructure. Consunji stepped down as Chairman in 2014. His son Isidro heads DMCI Holdings and Semirara. He shares his fortune with his children. A former concrete inspector, Consunji also has stakes in the country's largest coal miner, listed subsidiary, Semirara Mining. He served as the secretary of the Department of Public Works, Transportation and Communications during the Marcos administration from 1970 to 1975.

Biography/Timeline

1939

David enrolled at University of the Philippines in 1939 and took up civil engineering and graduated in 1946 and passed the board during the same year.

1954

After graduating he worked as Teacher in Bataan and later a concrete inspector for Kuenzle and Streiff. David Consunji founded D.M. Consunji, Incorporated in 1954 and has become its Chairman since. In 1995, he established the DMCI Holdings, Incorporated to consolidate the businesses.

2010

Consunji wrote his autobiography, A Passion to Build: A Memoir of David M. Consunji. His son, Isidro Consunji is currently the President of the DMCI Holdings, Incorporated. His grandson, Victor Consunji is married to Bb. Pilipinas World Maggie Wilson on December 2010.

2017

Consuji's death was announced on September 4, 2017. He was 95. His cause of death was not disclosed.
