Making history as the first ever Indian female gymnast to compete in the Olympics, she is an artistic gymnast whose best finish at the 2016 games was 4th place in Women's Vault Gymnastics. She was also the first Indian gymnast to compete in 52 years.
She was six years old when she began practicing gymnastics. She had flat feet early on, but was able to develop an arch in her foot through extensive training. She won Junior Nationals in Jalpaiguri in 2008.
She took home bronze medals at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and the 2015 Asian Championships in Hiroshima, both in vault events.
She was born in Agartala, Tripura, India into a Bengali family.
She earned support from the GoSports Foundation that was represented through the Rahul Dravid Athlete Mentorship Program.
