Author who broke out with the novel Rooftoppers (2014), which won the Waterstones Children's Book Prize and was shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal. She has gone on to release acclaimed books like The Explorer (2017), which won the children's book prize at the Costa Book Awards.
She spent ten years living in Harare, Zimbabwe as a child. At age fourteen, she and her family moved to Brussels.
She has had a lifelong infatuation with heights, having participated in tree climbing, roof walking and tightrope walking.
Her father was a diplomat.
She wrote her doctoral thesis on poet John Donne.
