Leading British scientist in Electromagnetism and Elctrochemistry. He invented an early form of the Bunsen burner and the system of oxidation numbers and he was one of the first scientist to discover benzene.
He learned a great deal by reading the books he came across while working as a bookseller's apprentice.
He was the first to discover the Magnetic Field, along with Diamagnetism and Electrolysis.
He got married to Sarah Barnard on June 12, 1821.
