Poet who has won acclaim for poetry collections like Clung (2004) and Get Some (2008), the latter of which was named as a finalist at the New Zealand Post Book Awards. She is also famous for being the mother of "Royals" singer Lorde.
She became a Teacher after graduating from the University of Auckland.
Her collection Clung won the Jessie Mackay Award for Best First Book of Poetry.
In addition to Lorde, she has three other children with her husband Vic O'Connor.
