Russian pair skater who has had tremendous success alongside skating partner Maxim Trankov. She and Trankov won two gold medals at the 2014 Olympics and are the victors of numerous other competitions, including the World Championships and European Championships.
She was a singles skater until age 14, when she decided to switch to pair skating.
She is the first pair skater to win Olympics gold medals in pairs and in the team event in the same year.
She married Maxim Trankov in 2015. She gave birth to a daughter named Angelica in 2017.
She beat out silver medalist Ksenia Stolbova at the 2014 Winter Olympics.
