Major league third baseman who debuted for the Boston Red Sox in 2012 and helped the team win the 2013 World Series. After the 2014 season, he was traded to the San Diego Padres.
He played shortstop and pitched for Liberty-Eylau High School in Texas.
He was selected to the 2011 All-Star Futures Game.
He was born to Tom and Julie Middlebrooks, a baseball/football coach and art Teacher, respectively. He married Jenny Dell in 2016.
To make room for the up-and-coming third baseman, the Red Sox traded away veteran All-Star Kevin Youkilis in 2012.
