Prior to her journalism career she was a professional bodyboarder who won the world championship four times.
She traveled to Barcelona to interview athletes during the 1992 Olympics for Top Sport network. She later traveled to Sydney for the 2000 Summer Olympics.
She was married to Olympian Swimmer Cassiano Leal from 2001 until 2008.
