She has two sisters, Anne-Marie Morwena Gutteridge (b. 1958) and Cosima Farah Gutteridge (b. 1962). She married Andrew Hawkins, a son of the actor Jack Hawkins, in London in 1978.
Gutteridge was nominated for a Golden Globe in the category "Actress in a Leading Role - Mini-Series Or Television Film" for the 1982 television miniseries Little Gloria... Happy at Last. In that series she portrayed Gloria Morgan Vanderbilt, the mother of Artist and Writer Gloria Vanderbilt. She co-starred in the episode "The Wrong 'Un" in the TV series Tales of the Unexpected, also featuring in two other episodes of the series.
