He first gained a following as a YouTuber, posting videos about life as a Muslim Arab-American to his Subeetube channel. His video "Stuff Arab Dads Say" went viral overnight.
He is half Palestinian and half Filipino. His Islamic faith has greatly influenced his design aesthetic. He has a sister, Alia, and a brother, Yousef.
Both he and Asher Levine are well known menswear designers.
