He was first discovered by Latin artist A.B. Quintanilla III who made him the lead vocalist for Los Kumbia Kings. He started releasing music through the group in 1999 before starting his solo career in 2003.
He is known for having been nominated for two Latin Grammy Awards during 2004 including for Best Urban Album for his self-titled release and Producer of the Year.
He was born in Houston, Texas but was raised in Corpus Christi, Texas.
