Co-founder and Chairman Emeritus of Southwest Airlines.
He graduated from Wesleyan University with a degree in English and from NYU with a law degree.
He wrote the idea for Southwest Airlines on a napkin at a Texas restaurant.
He married Joan Negley with whom he had four children.
He received the Charles Lindbergh Award for Excellence in aviation in 2006.
