Alpine skier who won Olympic gold in 2002 at Salt Lake City in the slalom; winner of several gold medals in the French Championships in the slalom and giant slalom.
When he was younger, he competed in downhill skiing, but a knee injury forced him to change events.
He retired in 2006 after breaking his forearm while training.
He grew up with his family in Savoie, France.
